AT&T finally updating HTC One M8 to Android 4.4.4

Seems AT&T decided they should probably get on the ball with their HTC One M8 devices with Lollipop looming over their heads as they have decided to push out an update to the device that is a bit over due. Support documents for the update went up last week, but were quickly pulled back down. Now, after a bit of a false start, it would seem they are live again which means the update should be underway. Unless someone hit all the wrong buttons twice. Current owners should be on the look out for and update to your device that will carry software version 3.42.502.1. The update will bring your device up to Android 4.4.4 and carries a number of changes and fixes along the way.

The changelog lists out the following details:

  • Enables HD Voice
  • Updates Android OS to Android 4.4.4
  • Security enhancement
  • Bluetooth enhancement
  • Adds AMBS Cloud Messaging Integration
  • Adds Copy and Paste camera feature
  • Adds Usage Manager App
  • Improves battery performance
  • Updates AT&T Ready2Go
  • Updates Visual Voicemail

While the changelog doesn’t make mention of it, HTC’s Eye Experience is supposedly included with the update. At least, according to Mo. The Eye Experience brings in more options to use with the camera like taking front and rear shots simultaneously and some double exposure tricks. He also stats VoLTE as well.

If you don’t see the update hanging out in your notification bar then head into Settings > Software > Check for updates. Hopefully it pops up for you. Be sure your battery is over 50% charged, you have a solid Wi-Fi connection and some time to hangout while it downloads and installs.
