Christmas 2014: Top 5 best deals for Android games to pick up this Holiday season

This’ the season for sales on apps on the Google Play Store and there are lots of great games already with heavy discounts for you to take a look at. If you’re having trouble sifting through the masses of apps, and there are more than a few, we’ve put together the “Christmas 2014: Top 5 best deals for Android games” list for you to help you cut down the list.

Christmas 2014: Top 5 best deals for Android games

Rayman Fiesta Run

First cab off the rank is Rayman Fiesta Run, yet another platformer from Ubisoft featuring everybody’s favourite limbless protagonist. I find myself always recommending Rayman games and that’s because they are always beautifully made and you never really feel like they’ve compromised anything in making a truly customized mobile experience. If you love platforming games and you haven’t yet played Rayman, I’d urge you to pick this up this Festive Season, and at $0.50, you really can’t afford not to.

Christmas 2014: Top 5 best deals for Android gamesGame Dev Story

The game that started it all for mobile developer Kairosoft: Game Dev Story. If the name of the game wasn’t self-explanatory enough, the point of the game is for you to take the reins of a fledging game development studio, and try and manage it till it’s making triple-AAA titles. It’s wonderfully nuanced, has adorable graphics, and to this day, is still my favourite of all the games that Kairosoft has ever developed. At $0.99 this Christmas, it’s a steal.

Christmas 2014: Top 5 best deals for Android gamesHitman GO

The Hitman games on PC are synonymous with stealth, so it was really interesting to see Square Enix take the Hitman franchise somewhere other than a new fully-fledged PC game. Hitman GO is a puzzle game, which swaps the original series’ third-person perspective for a top-down, turn-based one and adopts a uniquely beautiful diorama-like art style to carry out Agent 47’s contracts. If you’re looking for a puzzle game that is a little off the beaten path (and only $0.99), then Hitman GO may be the game for you.

Christmas 2014: Top 5 best deals for Android gamesThe Room 2

The first “The Room” game was a BAFTA winning puzzle game, and Fireproof games is back with The Room 2 and new puzzles to boggle the mind. Each stage will have you examining various objects in order to try and uncover clues that will bring you closer to the answers you seek. It also looks fantastic on the small screen, so if you’re looking to get more puzzles on your Festive plate, then The Room 2 will do just the trick for $0.99.

Christmas 2014: Top 5 best deals for Android gamesThe Inner World

Developer Headup Games is better known for games like Bridge Constructor, but The Inner World could not be more different from that game (except for maybe the problem solving). Adopting the age-old genre of point-and-click adventure game and beautifully hand-drawn animations, The Inner World is a charming romp following the journey of Robert, a clueless but adorable protagonist. It’s a little bit different, but as a fan of the old adventure game formula, this was one I had to include on the list. And costs only $0.99 to boot.

So there you have it. Hopefully that helps you pick up something that will keep you busy over the Holiday period. As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts about our list and what other great deals you’ve been seeing.

Happy Holidays!
