Crashlands will be the Butterscotch Shenanigans next outing in Gaming

crashlandsWe have a definite soft spot for game developer Butterscotch Shenanigans. It’s definitely something to do with their absurdist tendencies when they create their games, which is on full display in their best known games, TowelFight 2 and Quadropus Rampage. But when we heard that Sam Coster, one half of the Butterscotch brotherly duo, had been diagnosed with cancer, we were shocked and concerned and immediately sent our well wishes to Sam. Being the people that they are, however, the Coster brothers continued to develop games despite the toll that the cancer treatments have taken on Sam, and have recently come out with the name of their next endeavour, which will be called Crashlands.

Crashlands is primarily the result of a conversation between the brothers when they were developing Extreme Slothcycling, their most recent project. According to Sam, the conversation went like this: “Seth. I don’t want Extreme Slothcycling to be the last game I make before I die.” As morbid as that sounds, the Butterscotch Shenanigans are committed to releasing Crashlands on Android by their June deadline, which will include “survival, crafting, creature management, [and] strategic combat”.

We’re really excited about Crashlands, as we are for all of Butterscotch’s games, and we wish Sam and his brother the best over the next few months.
