Cricket Set To Launch The Kyocera Zio Next Month

The Kyocera Zio will be launching on Cricket Wireless as early as August 15th. The pre-sale page has already gone up for Kyocera’s first Android device. Along with this device, Cricket is rumored to launch a $55 unlimited plan. The Zio will not carry the same specs as the Android superphones we are seeing now and in the near future, but this Android devices offers Google’s OS and to someone who wants in on Android action, can now join us.

Features of the Kyocera Zio include:

  • 3.5-inch WVGA display
  • 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 CPU
  • 3.2MP camera
  • Android 1.6 (Upgradeable ?)

Android 1.6 will be shipping on this device and there is no word yet on a 2.x firmware update, although we would assume as much being this will be a new device. The device is expected to be sporting a $250+ price tag on a month-to-moth plan.
