Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo mail Android app receives much needed Update

As much as I have tried, I still can’t get my wife to fully commit to Gmail. She is still stuck in her ways of Yahoo Mail, even with its lack of abilities. I fear it is a battle I may never win. At least she, and the rest of you still utilizing the free email service, have a very nice update waiting for you in the play Store.

The update offers a pretty major overhaul in the way of features and looks. It still sports the Yahoo purplish color scheme that you have, hopefully, grown to love. However, the UI elements are bit more inline with the Holo UI design structure now. Offering up overflow menu button and context-sensitive action bars. Heck, there is even a cool side bar navigation system to help you bounce around your various folders.

The new Yahoo! Mail app also gives users pinch-to-zoom functionality, much like we have all been enjoying on Gmail more recently.  Along with a great looking new visual overhaul, there are a number of behind the scene additions and fixes. Like better battery performance, which is always a good thing, and more reliable push notifications. It is a pretty good-looking update that I am sure many of you Yahooers out there are going to be pleased to see.

There are a few minor things you should know as well. If after you update you experience any issues, Yahoo suggests you uninstall the app and then reinstall it. That should fix any problems. Also, they have renamed the app as it appears on your device. It now will read Y! Mail. So be on the look out for that after you update as well.

As usual, you can snag the app via clicking or scanning the QR code found below. Assuming you don’t want to just hit the Play Store and select My Apps to update.
