[Download] APK drops for Google Play Store version 5.2, brings in lots of backend fixes and tidbits

We’ve been wondering when the next Play Store update was going to drop, and as it happens, that day is today. Google Play Store version 5.2 has fallen into our laps, and we’ll just get this out there first: if you were expecting any new and fanciful changes, this is not the update for you. As far as we can tell, it’s just a lot of bug fixes, but Android Police has done their usual teardown and found some very interesting details of possible future features. And for those of you who just want the APK and none of these extra details, skip straight to the bottom of this post where we’ll have a download link.

Among the most interesting features hiding in this new Play Store, it looks like Google is planning to do new things with Enterprise i.e. business-based apps, which could open up a whole new market for Android. It also looks like Google will be trying new things with rewards and what appear to be store specifc (i.e. Play Books, Play Music) vouchers, but exactly how these will be distributed remains to be seen. Despite these minor, invisible changes, Google Play Store version 5.2 still manages to be one whole megabyte bigger (11.16MB) than the previous version.

If you want to try out the new Play Store now, we’ve got the update for download below.
