Dual-core Samsung Galaxy Player 70 Plus goes Official

Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too. Not everyone in the world is in need of a $500 smartphone, but that doesn’t mean you should have to suffer. Not that long ago, Samsung announced their Galaxy Player line of portable media devices. Essentially looking exactly like their Galaxy S I9000 devices without the cellular radios and carrier restrictions. Bringing the Galaxy line to more users hands that want all that is wonderful, with out a contract or need to change out your favorite device.

During MWC Samsung announced the Galaxy Player Wi-Fi 4.2. Which is a very similar device to the Galaxy Player 70. With a few improvements. The GP70 will still run Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) as its base OS, but will house a dual-core processor this go round. Along with  a 5-inch display. It will also sport a whopping a 2,500 mAh battery, 5MP camera and be available in a 16GB or 32GB model. Both version also include a micro SD card slot as well.

The Galaxy Player 70 Plus is almost a Note, with out the S-Pen. The device is slated to land in South Korea with a price tag of 399,000 won – about $357 for the 16GB model or 469,000 won – about $420 for the 32GB model.

I really like how they look. With that beefed up battery and having all the functionality of an Android device really makes it appealing to us. We would love to see these land state side at some point and time. What do you guys think? Even though the cost is in line with a new phone from your carrier, would you pick one up just for a media device?
