Facebook Dumps Gmail Importer

Let’s face it folks, Mark Zuckerberg and Facbeook have a love hate relationship with well, just about everyone in Silicon Valley.  This weeks foe of the week is none other than Google.  But, this actually isn’t on facebook.

Google changed their terms of service for gmail earlier this week. The change said that Google will no longer share their gmail information with any company that doesn’t offer reciprocity. In other words, you can’t (well you can) easily import all of your Facebook contacts into your Gmail, or at least not with Facebooks “consent”, so you can no longer import your Gmail contacts into your Facebook.

Why is this important on an Android site? Well we all use Gmail everyday and I’d say with 500 Million users, most of us use facbeook everyday. I for one add everyone to my Android phone and Gmail contacts at the same time. After a big convention or event I made it a habit to go back in and import my Gmail contacts to both my Facebook and Linked In, now it’s more a disservice to the user than anything.
