Facebook Home officially available to the whole World

Facebook Home

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock somewhere, you would have heard that Facebook released its high touted “OS”/”launcher”/”lockscreen” called Facebook Home last week. Unfortunately, for those of us across the ocean, the original release of Home was localized to the U.S. only (not that this should have stopped you).

Well, wipe those tears away because Facebook Home is now officially available internationally, so now every Tom, Dick and Harry can get their hands on Home. Except, you will need either a HTC One X/X+, Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Note II…

It looks like the international release has at least helped the Google Play rating for the app. Prior to this, the app had a rather lackluster average rating of 1, however has now recovered to a much more respectable score of 2.3.

CEO of Google, Eric Schmidt, also called Home “fantastic” at AllThingsD’s Dive Into Mobile event overnight, and said “this is what open source is about”. I’m not sure that’s exactly a compliment, but you can make your own judgement about that.
