[GAME REVIEW] Phone Fight, Join The Phone War!

phone fightHave you ever wanted to tell your friends that you dislike their phone, but have been required by social etiquette not to physically destroy it? Well, Phone Fight might just be the game for you. Having been on iOS since January, Phone Fight is now coming to Android for release today!

Phone Fight is a mobile game coming to you from Mob In Life, whose aim is to ignite the fire that is the iPhone/Android phone wars and combine that with a Tamagotchi, all in a social game. You will interact with the game through your phone who you will maintain much like you would a Tamagotchi. To start the game, you will customize your phone with a face and other items, eventually earning more and more to pimp out your phone.

phone fightLike many other social games on the market, you have the option to jump straight into the game or sign in with your Facebook account. I’d suggest the latter as this way you will see all your Facebook friends also playing the game. But more on that later.

To keep your phone happy, you’ll have to maintain your phone’s health, affection and fun by doing activities that will increase your phone’s happiness such as giving your phone a name, or petting it. These will often require some amount of gold coins, which is the primary form of currency in this game, along with SIMs. This currency can be cashed in on any number of things that will enhance your phone either cosmetically or increase its combat abilities.

There’s a lot of equipment in this game, and it continues to unlock as your phone defeats more and more opponents and increases its level. Levelling up will allow you to put Skill Points into your phone’s 4 skill areas: attack, defense, agility and intelligence. The equipment system in Phone Fight is actually quite deep with the existence of Collections, which will make you significantly stronger if you possess all the specific items in each Collection, giving you a Collector’s Item.

phone fightTo actually battle your friends, you’ll need to go on missions which will give you options of who to attack. And don’t worry, the game will make those friends of yours who have iPhones very noticeable… There are also missions that will pit you against boss characters, who are phones with unusually high levels, encouraging you to beat down on some other foes in preparation of defeating these stronger bosses.

Battles themselves take the form of a simple turn-based match; as your phone is allowed a maximum of 4 weapons, your weapons cycle during each attack; so don’t worry, your toilet brush will get its time. There is an added mini-game to the battle as each hit will cause bubbles to appear; some bubbles will contain bombs and some contain coins. Popping the bubbles will net a gold coin bonus and popping a bomb will, well… explode.

phone fightAlso like many other social games out there, you only have 5 bars of energy, which regenerate after you have used it up; however when a Facebook friend starts playing Phone Fight, you’ll get a free bar of energy. Publishing your battle on Facebook will also get you some coins, so for your sake, I hope you keep winning.

Phone Fight will be absolutely free when it releases today, which means it includes some IAPs for you to peruse, primarily for purchasing additional gold coins so you can buy that shiny new weapon in the stores. As a launch bonus, all new players of Phone Fight will receive $5 game credit, which is a super nice head start for you early adopters.

Phone Fight is a remarkably deep social game that plays on the idea of Tamagotchi and applies it to your everyday companion, your phone. If you get your friends into it and engage in some warfare, Phone Fight has the potential to be one of those social games that keeps you coming back for more. And who doesn’t want to teach those pesky iPhones what’s what…
