Garmin-Asus, the partnership formed by Garmin and Asustek, is finally joining the Android party. VP of Asus’ mobile device business unit announced this week that the partnership will be launching 4 to 5 smartphones this year running WinMo and Android operating systems with a global shipping target of a million units. According to Asus, neither platform will be favored and Android could very well make up half that weight. The first of their Android-based handsets will apparently be revealed at the upcoming Mobile World Congress trade fair and could possibly be headed to T-Mobile USA in the near future. I could really get excited about this if their handsets operate anything like their netbooks. 😉
