There are plenty of apps to chose from in the Play Store that give users a new way to send and receive text/MMS messages. Depending on your tastes and needs of course. Not to long ago Google pushed out the stock Google Messenger app to the Play Store. It has been my go to on all my devices since. Today it seems Google is making an update to that app that brings it to version 1.2. The change log is short, but pretty awesome.
The update brings along animated GIF support and a widget to add to your home screen. They also state there have been a number of bug fixes and performance improvements. The widget is kind of a nice thing to have though for quickly accessing your messages without having to open the app to do so.
Hit the Play Store and check for the update. If you feel adventurous you can head over to Gappsearly and grab the APK from there too.
