Google Says, “No Ice Cream Sandwich for you Nexus S users!” Well, Not Really

Looks like Google is playing a little bit of the teasing game for Nexus S users, by giving you the Ice Cream Sandwich update without actually giving you the update. Seems that Nexus S users are able to see that the update is available, run through the process of installing it, and then their phones are booted right back into Gingerbread and tears roll down their faces. Yeah it looks like Google is able to trigger a rollback on phones that are attempting to update from all the way in Mountain View. That is just awesome on how much power they have on our phones. (Sarcasm)

So what is the reason for this? Looks like Google is “monitoring feedback”, to make sure people are not having problems getting their ICS update. Sounds reasonable enough I suppose. Here is what Google’s Paul Wilcox had this to say:
If you received an update notification a little while ago, but the update isn’t currently available for your phone, this is likely the result of Google pausing the update in your area while we monitor feedback. The Android 4.0 update is continuing to roll out around the world so your phone will receive another update notification when it’s available again in your region.
So basically, they do this with their updates. They roll out the first batch and then pause the roll out to see what happens. Sorry Nexus S users that are weeping for their ICS, keep checking back everyday to see if it has arrived.
