Google Shows off new Gmail Inbox Experience

Google
Google I/O might be over, but that sure doesn’t mean that Google doesn’t have plenty of tricks up their sleeves for us for the rest of the year. This morning Google announced a new update will be rolling out for Gmail. The new revamped look and functionality is all bout helping you stay organized without having to do much work yourself. Hinging it all on categorizing your inbox for faster access by simply choosing a few categories that you want and Gmail will do the rest.

While I like to call it categories, in a simpler term, its new tabs. Breaking things down into Social, Promotions and Updates. If you live on Gmail then we are sure your inbox is loaded to the gills with all of these things often.

New Google Gmail
As usual, the new inbox is rolling out gradually to all users. On the desktop side, check out the little gear icon. Once you see “Configure inbox” in the list, select it and you can start checking it out. The Android and iOS apps will be updated in stages. Now before you all start freaking out and shouting that you don’t want this look, Google is leaving you the option to stick with your current look. Simply switch off optional tabs.

I am sure it will take a little bit of getting used to at first, but it sure does look like it will be a nice new look to help keep you better organized. I wonder what kind of wrench this will through into our lovely app themers gear box though.
