Holo Launcher leaves XDA beta and makes its way to the Play Store, bringing a little ICS to Everyone

We have shared a lot of news about Holo Launcher over the past couple of months. It is a very fast and light weight home replacement launcher that offers the ICS look and feel to any Android device running 2.2+. Before July 7th, you could only pick up this gem of an app as a beta from the kind heart developer at XDA. Now it has since been updated yet again, and is now available for everyone via the Play Store.

Holo Launcher comes in two variations. The first is the basic free edition.

Basic Features:
– Full ICS Style: ICS Icons, Folders, Outlines, Drawer Tabs, etc.
– Custom Desktop Pages/Grid: Up to 9 desktop pages and 10 x 10 grid.
– Custom Drawer Portrait/landscape Grid
– Scrollable Dock: Up to 7 icons per page and up to 3 pages.
– Infinite Scrolling
– Gestures: Swipe up/down on desktop to launch apps quickly.
– Customizable shortcut/folder icons, support ADW icon pack.
– Desktop Previews: Pinch to access desktop previews.
– Backup and Restore: Backup and restore your settings and shortcuts.
– Other Customization Options: Keep in memory, home key action, hide apps in drawer, hide labels, etc.

The second version is Plus version, which will set you back $3.99 but includes the following;

Plus features:
* Multiple configurable drawer tabs
* Unread count notifications for call, sms and gmail
* More desktop gestures: Pinch in/out, Two Finger Swipe and Double-tap
* Dock icon Swipe up/down gestures
* More transition effects
* Widgets overlapping
* 1×1 widgets in dock
* Other enhancement and customization options.

Along with your Holo Launcher Plus purchase, you will want to pick up Holo Notifier. This is the add-on app you will need to get the cool little notification numbers on your Gmail, SMS and missed calls. Assuming you want it of course.

It is a really great alternative home replacement app for those of you in need of something smaller and more efficient. The true advantage that Holo has over Apex or Nova, is simply its ability to bring ICS to previous Android device versions. If you still haven’t given it a shot, you better. Click or scan the QR code listed below to pick up the FREE version first. You need that one to get the paid version any ways. If you migrate to the plus version, be sure to go into Launcher settings > Restart Launcher to make sure that it switches to Holo Plus from the free version.
