HTC One M8s gets announced with a Qualcomm 615 processor, 13MP camera and larger battery

HTC has gone out on a limb with a new device announcement this morning. One that seems a bit late, but still has its place in the world of phones. The Taiwanese manufacture has added an “S” model to its line up with the HTC One M8s. No, not M8’s, as in plural, M8s as in “S”. One wouldn’t particularly notice the difference between the current HTC One M8 and the new HTC One M8s as the external look and feel of the device are virtually identical. It is the innards that got slightly modified.

Inside, HTC swapped out the Qualcomm 801 processor from the flagship variant for the lower tiered Qualcomm 615. (4 x Cortex A53 at 1.7GHz + 4 x Cortex A53 at 1.0GHz) It retains its 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and carries 16GB of internal storage with micro SD card support. However, there won’t be a 32GB model. It also keeps the 5-inch 1080p display and adds in Bluetooth 4.1. HTC swapped out the Ultra Pixel camera for a 13MP camera and they increased the battery capacity to 2840 mAh. It will launch with Android 5.0 when it goes live in various parts of Europe.

Price wise, would be buyers are looking at around £379.99, or $564.42, when it lands in the UK.
