HTC To Ditch AMOLED And Use Super TFT LCD Due To Shortages

HTC could have a real issue on their hands by many potential buyers of the Droid Incredible, Google Nexus One and HTC Desire. HTC plans on switching from its previous Samsung AMOLED display and use Super TFT LED by Sony instead, due to the shortages they are experiencing.

You can blame it on Samsung for the shortage to HTC, as Samsung is also providing these AMOLED displays to push out to meet the demand of their own Samsung Galaxy S. According to Kim Sung-in, an analyst at Kiwoom Securities, he expects the sales for the Galaxy S to reach 10 to 15 million units to be sold in the latter half of this year while Samsung Mobile Display has an annual production capacity of 35 million.

Either way, we should see changes in displays for the Google Nexus One, the HTC Desire, and the HTC Droid Incredible soon. The Droid Incredible is currently still on backorder and is set to ship on July 23rd, according to the Verizon website.
