Ice Cream Sandwich update for HTC Vivid manually Available

During the HTC One series of device announcements, AT&T and HTC announced the Vivid would be getting Ice Cream Sandwich soon. Needless to say this made a few of you pretty happy. It now appears that an ICS build is hanging out on the servers over at AT&T and can people are getting lucky in pulling it through to their device. While AT&T is not officially stating that the build is ready to roll out for mass consumption, that has never stopped us in the past. There is a little trick that seems to be having some hit and miss success. If you grab your Vivid and dial *#*#682#*#* and then call, your device will ping the server for updates. You might get an update replay a few moments later. It doesn’t seem to be a 100% way to get in on the icy goodness a bit early, but it never hurts to try.

The build is potentially not the final build that will ultimately be pushed out to customers. Attempting this pull and install is done at your own risks as we have no idea if it is final, what bugs if any exist or if you will loose root or be able to regain it. Comments are still pouring in at Androidcentrals Vivid forum saying it is still working and many people have successfully updated their devices or friends devices. The update pulls in 300mbs and a Wi-Fi connection is highly-recommended. You will ultimately be updated to ICS 4.0.3 along with the Sense 3.6 UI.

Let us know how it goes if you pull the trigger.
