Inbox by Gmail finally expands to tablets and other browsers

Back in October of 2014 Google launched its alternate take on Email with Inbox by Gmail. At the time you needed to register for an invite to gain access. Those that got accepted could then invite others with personal invites. The service is certainly cool and different. Those same factors gave it a hit and miss in terms of acceptance. I liked it, but it never became my replacement for Gmail. Up until today Inbox by Gmail was only supported on phones and with the Chrome Browser. That is finally changing though.

Google is updating the app and service today to bring a tablet optimize version to Android users, and iPads if you are a dual wielder. Along with the updated mobile app, Google is also making the service functional on Firefox and Safari. The list is pretty specific and leaves anyone using IE, Opera or other browsers out of the mix. At least for now anyways.

Bounce to the Play Store below on your tablet to get the app installed and give it a whirl. Head over to inbox.google.com on one of the supported browsers to get a taste of it there. If you don’t have an invite yet, be sure to ask around a bit. You can also drop an invite request to inbox@google.com and patiently wait for access to be granted.

Enjoy!
