Yesterday in my discussion of the cons of the new myTouch Slide, I mentioned that odd stylized G that took up a button space. Â It was my impression the button stood for Google and was a one-touch search feature. Well, I was wrong, but close.
The G stands for “Genius Button”, which enables a voice input and would allow you to perform a web search among other things. Â Does this make the device better or worse, I’m not sure. One button voice input is a good feature, no doubt. However there are some who either prefer to type their searches, either due to preference or a desire to protect one’s privacy, which leaves a button that goes to waste (unless it can set to perform a different function).
With a rumored release date of May 17, 2010 you can expect to see more information coming out.
