January Android security patch is now available, Nexus factory images posted

Google has so far been making good on its promise to release monthly security patches for the Android mobile operating system, which at the very least is great news for Nexus devices owners. To that end, Google has released factory images with the January Android security patch for the following devices:

Depending on which device you have, your version number will get updated to MMB29P, MMB29O, MMB29S, or MMB29T – naturally, your Android version will remain as 6.0.1. As always with factory images, if you attempt to install one of these you will be wiping your device clean so make sure to backup all your essentials. If wiping everything isn’t your cup of tea, you’ll instead need to wait a few days or weeks for the OTA update to reach you. As for everybody else who has a device made by an OEM, there’s really no telling when you’ll be getting your security patch update, but we’ll keep you posted as we find out.

If you’re looking for the factory image downloads, you’ll need to hit up the images page on the Google Developers website here.
