Looking to make your HTC Jetstream do more? How about using it to make phone Calls?

The HTC Jetstream has been one of those device that seems to have taken forever to get opened up. Just earlier this morning XDA member DooMLoRD posted up perm root and a CWM based recovery. That puts this tablet a step closer to custom-built ROMs that should make it a dream to own. Of course you need to get your bootloader unlocked first via HTCDev.com. Which was recently added by the way.

If you are already on point, have your bootloader unlocked and followed DoomLoRd’s perm root and recovery instructions at XDA, then you are set to make a small modification that will let you make phone calls. You will need an application that will let you edit your build.prop file so you can make a few adjustments to the code. Some people like root explorer, other prefer Prop Edit. What ever the case is, you will open up that cleverly coded build.prop file and edit, what appears to me, three simple lines of code and you will be able to make calls. If you want a little extra oomph, the founder of this clever little mod, Giblet-dono, also lists the code to change to enable Bluetooth headsets as well.

It really is a pretty simple, safe and fast way to give your Jetstream a little added functionality that only a handful of users will enable. If you want to take a look and make the necessary changes, point your browser over to Giblet-dono’s XDA thread. Have fun and we will be watching for Jestream ROMs over the next few weeks to share with you too.

As always, READ READ and READ again before you start messing around with things. AndroidStory, the Devs listed and HTC takes no responsibility for what you do to your device on your own. Have fun!!
