New Streaming music service, Magic Radio, announced by DoubleTwist

Double Twist
If you don’t have enough streaming music options in your life, DoubleTwist just announced another one. DoubleTwist is a music player app that has been around the Android block a few times. Boasting over 10 million downloads and still holding on at 4.4 stars. Today’s update moves the app to version 2.0 and introduces a new streaming music ability called Magic Radio.

Magic Radio will seamlessly blend your current on device music library with new music uniquely tailored to your musical tastes from a catalog of over 13 million songs. The service is ad free and lets you find a station for your every mood or genre. There are two catches to the service though. First, while the app might be free to pick up in the Play Store, the Magic Radio service will set you back $3.99. It is also only available in the U.S.

Looking through the comments on the Play Store though seems to tell a much broader story of the new update. It would seem that plenty of people are not to excited about the new service. Taking their 4 and 5 star ratings and pulling them clear down to 1 and 2 star ratings. Complaints include the removal of the free internet radio option that Double Twist previously offered, leaning towards the subscription service instead.

If the free internet radio option is something that you use frequently and love, you might want to hold off on the update unless you are prepared to spend $3.99 on a subscription. Although we aren’t sure how long they will keep the previous app version with internet radio up and running.
