[Update][Video] Motorola Announces the DROID RAZR M, Pre-Orders start later today for $99

The live stream of the Motorola and Verizon device announcement has just come to a close and it offered up quite a bit of good information. With the announcement of three new devices that we all knew were coming, the DROID RAZR HD, the DROID RAZR MAXX HD and the DROID RAZR M. We will hit on all three today and get all the information you need about each one. While the first two were pretty great, the RAZR M is where we are going to start. Mostly because it a pretty snazzy device and because you can pre-order on tonight. That and everyone that attended the press event is getting one for free so coverage and hands on with that device is going to get started really quickly.

Motorola‘s goal with the RAZR M was to make a smaller device that offered the best screen possible for its size. So the RAZR M was born. It offers up a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED HD display at 960 x 540 that goes as close to the edges as possible. It honestly has one of the thinnest bezels we have ever seen. In the pat, a device the same size as the RAZR M would have only been able to utilize a 3.7-inch display. Making this one small little device with a good sized HD screen. It runs a Ice Cream sandwich at the moment, but will have Jelly Bean before the end of the year.

Internally it is sporting some high-end specs generally found on larger screen devices and much more expensive devices. The RAZR M has 4G LTE capablities, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 8MP camera with 1080p HD video and LED Flash. It also offers up a front facing camera, NFC support with Android Beam and a microSD card slot for up to a 32GB card. It will also launch in traditional Black or White colors. Battery side of things, the RAZR M has a 2,000 mAh battery rated for 20 hours of streaming music. Not to bad for its size.

● DROID RAZR M will be available for pre-order starting today, September 5th, at 5 p.m. ET at http://www.verizonwireless.com/droidrazrm and will be available on September 13th in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online at http://www.verizonwireless.com for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement. Customers receive the rebate in the form of a debit card; upon receipt, customers may use the card as cash anywhere debit cards are accepted. The DROID RAZR M will be available either Black or White.

Out of the three devices announced, this one is the one that really caught our eye. The screen is beautiful and plenty large enough for many, but the device is still extremely small and manageable. Sadly we weren’t at the event to be lucky enough to get one for free from Motorola, but will keep our eyes peeled for reviews and hands on videos of the device throughout the week to share.

You can check out the full press release, which covers all three devices, below. You can also visit Motorola.com and VerizonWireless.com for more images and more specs, not to mention to pre-order one for only $99 after $50 mail-in rebate. This kind of proves that that a smaller and featured pack device doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. Maybe this will be the end of $99 Android devices that are way under spec’d and under powered.

[Update] Motorola just added another press release to their news room about the RAZR M. Offer up a few more details and the following video of the device. Check it out.
