Motorola Droid 2 Software Update – Not Gingerbread

It seems a new software update is available for the Motorola Droid 2, starting within the last several hours. Motorola’s support site indicates an update, which includes a number of fixes, dubbed Version.2.3.20.A955.Verizon.en.US/BP_C_01.09.07P is ready for customers. Now we have to point out this is NOT Gingerbread, the 2.3.20 version does not refer to the firmware version, the device is still on 2.2.

The information from Verizon Wireless regarding the update can be found here. We’ve seen in the past when it comes to OTA updates, Motorola likes to send them out in small numbers at first before releasing it to the general population so don’t be surprised if you aren’t able to pull the update by going into your settings menu.  Remember, if you are rooted you might want to hold off on this update, check below for a full list of improvements and enhancements and be sure to sound off in the comments to let us know if you’ve received this update or not.
