Motorola Milestone XT720 OTA Update Brings Speed Boost

It seems that there was some confusion about the processor in the Motorola Milestone XT720. Right before the launch of this device in Germany, the processor was shown as being clocked at 720MHz and then another document showed the processor speed at “Up to 720MHz.” When the device actually shipped, it was actually clocked at 550MHz. Now Motorola seems to be in a giving mood as they are sending out an OTA update to their German and UK users that will overclock the device to 720MHz like originally reported. Motorola sent out the following statement:

“XT720 of either UK or German origin can now download new software that increases the processor speed and also introduces DLNA functionality. We have also produced a top 5 tips and tricks video to maximise the camera functionality of the device.”

Along with the speed boost, Motorola is also helping those who would like to stream media to other devices by sending out DLNA support for the XT720. The update will only be sent to those with handsets that originated in Germany or the UK. Anyone noticing a speed increase after the update?
