Motorola Moto G (4th Gen) and Moto G Plus detailed specs surface

We all know that Motorola has sent out invites for an event in New Delhi on May 17th. Motorola is also holding an event in Mexico the same day.  The design of the phone is evolved from the previous generation and now has a metal-looking frame, although it’s not yet confirmed. What we do know is that there’s a fingerprint reader on the Moto G4 Plus. Speaking of India, the country’s import-export website Zauba  have confirmed some of the rumored specs belonging to the two newly, and still unannounced, phones.

Based on imports into India from March 29th through May 3rd, it appears that the Moto G4 will come with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage. The Moto G4 Plus will bump that up to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. A new leak reveals that both the phones will have laser auto-focus and will be powered by Snapdragon 430 Octa-Core SoC. The rear camera on the Moto G4 will be 13MP according to the Zauba posts, while the Moto G4 Plus will sport a 16MP rear shooter with laser auto focus. The 5MP front-facing camera that will be on both units contains an OmniVision OV5693 sensor with 1.4μm pixel size.  Some variants of the phone also have NFC support.

Both the models are codenamed Athena, according to the import listing and the Moto G Plus has the model number XT1643.  The Moto G4 is rumored to come with a 5.5-inch screen carrying a 1080 x 1920 resolution. The fingerprint scanner on the latter is a square looking home button found under the front screen. Many had hoped Motorola/Lenovo would take advantage of the perfectly placed ‘M’ dimple on the rear for the fingerprint reader though. Both models are said to be available in Black and White, with interchangeable back covers available in different colors. We should know all the details and pricing at the launch on May 17th.
