Motorola is rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop for Verizon Moto X 2014

Well now, this is certainly an interesting bit of news. Verizon is one of the most notorious carriers when it comes to updates for devices. Often times their flagship devices don’t see software updates tot he latest Android OS offering for weeks, or sometime months, after the rest of the networks. It would seem that Verizon and Motorola are on point this time around as the Android 5.0 Lollipop update is now live and rolling out via a OTA for the Moto X 2nd Gen (2014) device on Verizon’s network.

You will be graced by all the wonders of the Material Design UI that has been finding its way into a variety of Google App updates. It will also bring along intelligently ranked notifications to the Ambient Display, set priority and privacy notifications, dismiss across all devices and a new Downtime settings that will only allow high-priority messages to come through and bother you. It also brings along that super cool Smart Lock feature that will automatically allow your device to be unlocked when in close proximity to other devices like your Moto 360 and other trusted devices.

To make sure you can get your hands on the update you will want to be connected to Wi-Fi and have above 50% battery life before you start the update process. You can head into Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Yes, I’m in to see if you can prompt it to pop up. Good luck and let us know if you get it and what you think of it after it installs.
