Motorola won’t Void the Warranty on Developer Edition Bootloader Unlock Codes Anymore

The winds of change are in the air. It looks like Motorola is starting to get on the proverbial bandwagon that is custom development by further supporting those out there that wish to partake. Up until today, if you purchased a developer edition device from Motorola and requested the Bootloader to be unlocked, your warranty was then voided. Needless to say no one liked it, but it was pretty much standard practice.

As of today though, if you request an unlock bootloader code your warranty will stay in tact. As if that wasn’t good enough news, Motorola is going to start posting the return-to-factory software images. Those factory images can be located through Motorola HERE.

To make things even more exciting, Motorola will also be reinstating all warranties to all Developer edition devices that were purchased in 2012/2013. This is just for those that requested a bootloader unlock code of course, but still a nice gesture.

All of this has to be pretty great news for all the current and potential Motorola Developer Edition device owners. Keep plugging at Motorola for change, seems like it is finally being heard.
