Motorola Xoom gets Xoot tool, easy root plus a lot More

Xoot, Xoot, Xoot. Isn’t that a cool word to say. I like it better than the Xoom. Since Motorola is so insistent on naming their tablets crazy outlandish names, why shouldn’t a tool that helps you root your tablet be anything less than crazy too. XDA member epic118 has just released his root tool for all you Xoom owners out there.

The tool does more than just root your Xoom. Take a gander at its other features –

Bootloader lock/unlock
Root your XOOM (thanks solarnz)
Convert from a region XOOM to a GED XOOM
Flash non-flashable boot animations
Includes ADB and FASTBOOT for all your Android developing needs!

Sounds like a pretty all inclusive tool to get your Motorola Xoom opened up for play time. Some of you might be wondering what the region Xoom to GED Xoom is. The dev took care of that explanation for us as well.

A region XOOM is one that’s not in the US. It may have changes made by Motorola, and get updates slower. A GED XOOM is a XOOM that’s in the US. It’s known as a Google Experience Device, and cannot be modified my Motorola.

From my understanding, it takes all the waiting and guess work on if you will get an update out of Motorola’s hands. If you ask me, that is a good thing.

If you own a Xoom and have been contemplating root and all things that go along with it, now is just as good of a time as any to open it up. Your only requirements is Windows 7/Vista and possibly ADB drivers for the Xoom. He is working on a Windows XP version right now but it isn’t quite ready. Head over to epic118’s XDA thread to get more information and file needed to get started.
