Nvidia Tegra X1 toting Shield Tablet expected to be coming soon

At CES 2015 last month, Nvidia announced yet another mobile processor that made everybody in the room weak at the knees: the Nvidia Tegra X1. Successor to the Tegra K1, it’s primary purpose is undoubtedly to help Nvidia pioneer the car processor industry, but we can’t forget that these processors make from some serious gaming power too. Last year’s Shield Tablet was a sight to behold, and while it’s a pretty niche product focussed entirely on gaming, it’s pretty cheap and it has received Android software updates before most devices, and we can’t see that changing any time soon. Of course, rumour has it that Nvidia will be following up last year’s effort with a new Shield Tablet, this time toting a Tegra X1.

Out with the old…

Fudzilla claims this new Shield Tablet will be announced on March 17th, or even slightly earlier, but unfortunately details are light on actual specifications besides the Tegra X1. We’d assume that Nvidia would keep most of the hardware exactly the same with perhaps a boost in RAM and display resolution, but that would still make the Shield Tablet one of the most powerful tablets that you can get on the market.
