Play begins: LG sends out invites to MWC 2016 event

MWC 2016 is still over a month away, but LG is getting its marketing engine into gear with invites being sent out to its event at the conference. According to the invite, the LG press conference will be on 14:00 CET on February 21st and simply includes the words “Play begins” and a jack-in-the-box in the background. It’s as vague as it gets and we have no idea what LG is going to be revealing at the event.

Going off last year’s performance, LG unveiled the Android Wear LG Watch Urbane – the LG G4 wasn’t to be released till a few months later. LG would eventually replace the Urbane with the LG Watch Urbane second edition LTE, though that device was recalled almost immediately due to a screen issue that LG deemed bad enough to warrant a stoppage of sales. MWC would be as good a time as any to re-launch the beleagured smartwatch, or LG could surprise us by releasing its flagship smartphone, the LG G5, early considering that they’ve abandoned the G Flex line of smartphones.

What do you think LG is going to announce at MWC 2016? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
