As promised, Brothers in Arms 3 launches to the Play Store free with IAP’s with minimal complaints

Over the last few weeks we have been updating you all with screenshots and video teasers for Gamelofts third installment of the Brothers in Arms franchise. They let us know that it would launch on December 17th and it looks like they came through on that date. The new Brothers in Arms 3: Sons of War, is a cover based 3rd person style shooter packed full of small missions with squad based combat in mind.

The 3rd person view should make for an interesting experience for mobile gamers. It pulls in a variety of missions as well as a variety of abilities, character classes and weapons. Like many other games on the Play Store, this one will bring in your usual in-app purchases. Not that it is a terrible thing since the game is free to start out with. You will have the obvious ability to drop a ton of real money and buy your way to success in the store front.

There is also a special VIP section where you can pay to gain additional XP & dog tags, more powerful consumable power, access to specific VIP events and access to a Flamethrower. Cause, well, lighting things on fire is essential at all times.

I played through the first mission to get a feel for it and it is quite a bit different. You have the ability to go where you want, but moving strategically to cover points is a real focus of the gameplay. The intro tutorial is pretty to the point with little in the way of teaching you much of anything though. The controls are basic, finger moves around the screen to aim, tap the fire button to shoot and hit the on-screen directional pad to fire. You earn points and XP as you make your way through the missions with more XP earned for headshots and various kills. The graphics are nice and the occasional cut scene of, say your bullet leaving the gun and taking out the enemy in a headshot, is kind of cool. It does look pretty good, especially on the larger Note 4 screen.

I have been informed that the game does support Bluetooth HID controllers. That can be a deciding factor for some when it comes to this game genre. Feel free to pick it up and give it a whirl for yourself, it is free, so you don’t have anything to lose besides 535MBs of space on your device to start out. Hit the links below.
