Required update lands for SHADOWGUN: Dead Zone, can’t play until you hit the Play Store

Shadowgun Dead Zone
Looks like another update has been pushed out by Madfinger games for SHADOWGUN: Dead Zone. The released update just went live this morning and does bring many awaited changes. There is however a drawback. With all the new stuff loaded inside the update, you are REQUIRED to make the update. Meaning that if you launch the game before you make the update, you won’t be able to play. I remember this happening in a previous update as well. Just so happened that i was on a road trip with no Wi-Fi available, so I couldn’t even show my friend the game at all. Kind of depressing at the time.

Anywho, if you are wondering what new goodies the update brings, take a look at the list.

What’s new in current update?

• Two new maps

• Revamped weapons

• Chat in Main Menu

• Gangs – Play with your friends!

• New hats

• Unity 4.0

• Rewards for playing Zone Control or finishing Deathmatch in the top three standings

What‘s improved?

• Fixed Ericsson voicechat

• Improved Hit Detection

• Fixed network code

• Renderer optimization (much faster)

• Weapon tweaks

• Fixed wall exploits in several levels

• Improved hit detection

• Many other bugs have been fixed…

What is coming in next update then?

• New CTF Mode – Apple vs. Androids

• New Maps for Zone Control and Deathmatch

• New Weapons

• New Gadgets

The list is pretty impressive and we don’t see why any of you Dead Zone lovers out their wouldn’t update anyways. Head to the PLay Store and your My Apps section to snag the update when you have a chance and are on a solid Wi-Fi connection.

P.S. “The most important is that after the new version release, no player is able to continue play without first updating to the new release. Moreover due to necessary fixes in the Research menu, all Research items of players will be reset to their original settings.”

SHADOWGUN: DeadZone Gets Essential Update Bringing Many Awaited Changes

Brno, Czech Republic – December 21, 2012 – MADFINGER Games has decided to make wide changes and enhancements to the current version of its multiplayer shooter game, SHADOWGUN: DeadZone. Arriving just before Christmas, the new update brings essential changes to the game that noticeably influence gameplay and positively impact the experience for all players of the game.

The MADFINGER Games Team has made good on the wishes of SHADOWGUN: DeadZone players shared on Forums or via fan social network pages.  “We have been very carefully reading feedback from players. We made a list of wishes and then we decided which requirements we are able to meet and how long it would take. This is why the update consists of many changes that were influenced directly by players themselves, “explained MADFINGER Games PR Manager, Anna Porizkova. With the new update, two new maps have been added to the game and finally players are now able to play with friends.

The most important change of the new update will influence all players. The new update brings improved servers that will fix connection issues. After the new version release, no player will be able to continue play without first updating to the new release.

In other significant news, changes have been effected in the performance and properties of weapons and items. Due to necessary fixes in the Research menu, all Research items will be reset to their original settings. “We redesigned the research tree and made changes to the statistics aspect of weapons. This means that after making the update, each weapon or item will appear in a slightly different manner than in the previous version from where the player purchased it. Very importantly, any players who have spent in-game money need not worry. All funds that players have invested into the game will be returned to their game account so that they may reuse them for research with all their favorite weapons and items,” explained Marek Rabas, CEO at MADFINGER Games.

The new update has been developed on Unity 4.0 and promises more FPS and memory optimization.
