ROM: Bionix-V by Team Whiskey

If you have been following along with the history of Team Whiskey’s ROMS, then you will no doubt remember the Bionix series of ROM’s for our beloved Samsung Vibrant. The original Bionix ROM’s were known for their stability and speed. We covered a lot of these ROM’s as they progressed. Once the Official Vibrant 2.2 software was dropped TW thought it would be a great idea to reincarnate the name. Now we have Bionix-V.

Normally I give myself a good 2 or 3 days of testing before I put together a review of this ROM. I won’t change the method of my madness. I felt with the amazing track record TW has had over the last few months, I should at least announce it’s arrival.

Bionix-v:
– Complete KA7 build (official OTA 2.2) kernel, modem, system files, apps, etc.
– Accurate battery mod
– 4 lock screens to choose from – android stock, epic, fascinate, vibrant
– Additional power menu options – reboot, reboot into recovery, reboot into download mode
– Nexus S gingerbread themed (as close as it gets to the real deal)
– Custom init scripts written by team whiskey for additional speed, stability, battery life, etc.
– Custom boot animation
– Voodoo enabled by default (if you are already using voodoo, you DO NOT need to disable it before flashing)
– Frameworks changes to polish the overall look for a better experience
– New wallpaper
– All user apps updated
– Additional GPS modifications for a better GPS experience

The guys have done a lot of work in a very short time, as always. There is a comprehensive DO’s and DON’Ts list on their xda-developers thread, so be sure to read it all before you give this a flash. Here are a couple standard screens of the ROM after a clean install. I also signed into Google, connected to Wi-Fi and synced. Then I went a head and did a fresh boot and installed Smartbench 2010 to give this ROM some numbers behind it.

In other news from TW, they are currently working to take on new team members to start more porting projects. Could this mean some Sense ROM’s are on the horizon? I am not sure what they have in mind but I plan to find out. Be on the look out over the next two weeks for custom built themes for these ROM’s directly from TW also.
