Samsung Galaxy S III (GT-I9300) picking up Android 4.3 Updates

Good news for those of you still rocking a stock unlocked international version of the Samsung Galaxy S III. Samsung has begun to finally push out the long awaited update to Android 4.3. Many of you might remember that a leaked version of the update had been pushed around over the last month or so. The update brings in a whole lot of great changes and additions that is sure to give a new love for your device.

CHANGES AND IMPROVEMENTS IN ANDROID 4.3 UPDATE
– GALAXY GEAR Support
– TRIM Support (Makes the device much faster)
– ANT+ Support
– Core UI elements updated to the ones on the Galaxy S4 (Galaxy S4′s theme all over)
– New Samsung Keyboard
– GPU drivers have been updated (Higher GPU benchmark scores)
– New Lockscreen: Multiple Widgets, improved ripple effect than Android 4.1.2, ability to change clock size and set a personal message
– New Screen modes (From S4): Adapt Display and Professional Photo
– Daydream
– Driving mode
– Actionable notifications
– Move-to-SD-card feature
– New Camera mode : Sound and Shot
– New Additions in Notification Centre
– Completely revamped Settings UI (Tabbed interface – Exactly like the Galaxy S4)
– Implementation of Voice controls (Let’s you control various parts of the phone using voice commands – Galaxy S4 feature)
– New Samsung Apps: Calculator, Clock, Contacts, Gallery, Music
– Full screen Samsung apps
– New S-Voice (from Galaxy S4)

That is the current list of changes that SamMobile has noticed. As with any major update like this, it will be rolling out in stages. Looks like Vodafone Ireland is the first locale to see the update. It will gradually make its way to the rest of world via OTA’s and Samsung Kies.

Eventually the US Galaxy S III’s will hopefully see an update, later in November if the leaked screenshots are to be believed. . Since the international model and the US models vary in chipsets and the carriers tend to take their time, all we have are hopes and dreams that the dates pan out correctly.
