Samsung outs list of devices to receive ICS in 2012, SGSII and Galaxy Note up first

Samsung just released a list of Galaxy devices that will receive Ice Cream Sandwich, beginning next year. The first two devices slated to get an official dose of Android 4.0 are the Samsung Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Note. According to Sammy, the updates for these two devices will begin rolling out in Q1 of 2012, with other devices to follow; however, no exact dates are in stone.

Here’s the roundup of devices already confirmed by Samsung to be getting an ICS update:

The ICS-upgradable devices are the GALAXY S II, GALAXY S II LTE, GALAXY Note, GALAXY R, GALAXY Tab 10.1, GALAXY Tab 8.9, GALAXY Tab 7.7, and GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus.

From the look of things, there will be more than a few Samsung devices left out from this party, unless Samsung decides to expand this list at a later date. For now, if you’re an owner of one of the above mentioned devices, it sure does feel good to be confirmed, doesn’t it?

In my experiences with the Android OS (I’ve been through every flavor, from Android 1.0 — before sugary-sweet treat code names — to Ice Cream Sandwich) I’ve gotta say the latest version is superior to any mobile experience I’ve ever encountered. Google continues to hit home runs, and it will surely be exciting to see what the future has in store. Jelly Bean anyone?
