Samsung pay gains support for an additional 19 Visa and MasterCard issuers

The battle to be the reigning supreme in mobile payments is well underway this year with the likes of Apple Pay, Android Pay and Samsung Pay. I even caught a story where WalMart is working on a mobile payment system. It is a little insane and can be a bit overwhelming at times. Samsung has the best promotions running right now for setting up Samsung Pay with an additional $50 Best Buy gift card just for registering your device with a card, even if it is limited to the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5 still. Gotta love new tech and the need for the finger print sensor. Anywho, the big drawback for many on Samsung Pay has been the lack of support from various banks and card issuers. While it isn’t alleviated just yet, Samsung has announced a big jump in its support with 19 new banking services being added to the mix today.

“More Samsung users will be able to use Samsung Pay to shop this holiday season, thanks to new support from MasterCard and Visa issuers, including our valued partners at PNC Bank and KeyBank,” said Injong Rhee, EVP of Samsung Electronics, Global Head of Samsung Pay. “With the widest acceptance of any mobile payment service, Samsung Pay continues to expand its reach and provide its customers unparalleled choice, flexibility and access.”

The included new card issuing institutions includes a number of Credit Unions like Utah Community Credit Union, Navy Federal Credit Union, Central Florida Educators Federal Credit Union and Bayport Credit Union. Feel free to check the whole list of supported banks and card issuers at Samsung.com to see if your bank has been added to the mix yet.
