Skype for Android updates, adds file sharing, better video quality and More

It seems like it took Skype a very long time to make its rounds in the Android world. I remember following it closely and being disappointed with the time it took for the U.S. to finally get the service. Since it’s launch there have been a number of other video and voice calling services that have landed offering much the same service as Skype, especially Google.

Even with so many other services floating around the Android market, Skype is still very popular. Mostly because its service was around a lot longer and adopted by billions of people. Today, Skype has updated their Android app to include a lot of new features and fixes that were a long time coming.

What’s in this version:

  1. What’s new in this version?
  2. • Send pictures, videos and files
  3. • Easier to sign out, and auto-sign in
  4. • Improved look and feel with new graphics
  5. • Voicemail improvements
  6. • Better video quality on Tegra 2 devices

Skype says that tablets with a NVIDIA Tegra 2 processors will greatly benefit from the battery and video improvements. Also, the HTC Amaze 4G, Motorola Droid RAZR and the unannounced Droid 4 are also now supported for video chat.
