Trouble in Paradise: Transformer Prime Ice Cream Sandwich update causing grief for Some

Asus Transformer Prime Update Issue

Remember that Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Asus Transformer Prime we told you would be making its way to a device near you starting last week? For many, this news came as a great treat — though we all knew the Prime would get ICS, nobody knew exactly when it would happen. Asus promised customers wouldn’t have to wait long and then made good on that promise the day before CES started. Unfortunately, it seems not everyone has had an easy time getting the Android 4.0 update. Some users are reporting a total inability to download the update, due to their tablet showing an “Unknown” serial number preventing the application of the upgrade.

Asus is already aware of the issue and is looking into it as I type. The company suggests affected users to a factory reset on the device and, if that doesn’t do the trick, try it again and let the slate sit at the desktop for about 15 minutes. Make sure to twiddle your thumbs too while you’re waiting on your newly acquired toy to get its taste of Ice Cream Sandwich — maybe that will help speed up the process for you as well. After all, this is exactly what you had in mind when purchasing the world’s first quad-core tablet, wasn’t it?

Community members, we want to know if you’ve run into this issue yet? Did you manage to get the update after a factory reset? If you’re in the group experiencing issues, make sure to stop by XDA and mingle with the great minds there who are working hard to support this matter.
