VAIO smartphones could be a reality in the future, may be unveiled at CES 2015

You may have heard that earlier this year that Sony sold off its PC division, the iconic VAIO brand, in an attempt to focus more on mobile devices. While the fruits of that separation are yet to fully materialize for Sony, VAIO has been chugging along in its own right for some time now with its PC business and has apparently decided that it wants to join the party – the smartphone party that is.

Yes, VAIO smartphones could eventually be on the cards, and reports are that this could be sooner than many would be expecting – as soon as CES 2015 which is next week. Details are incredibly light at this point, however, with no design or descriptions worth sharing besides the fact the devices will likely have 5-inch displays. It will be interesting to see Sony and VAIO suit up in the ring together for the first time as Sony is rumoured to launch its latest flagship at the consumer trade show next week, though we’ll have to see whether the Japanese outfit brings something worth playing to the table.
