[APP] GOTO Lockscreen – My New Daily Lockscreen App

Yesterday we brought the Simply Lockscreen to every ones attention and it seemed to be very popular. I wanted to see what else just might be out there that we have never seen before. That’s when I stumbled upon GOTO Lockscreen. After reading the comments about the app I was leary to purchase it. Just like many of you, I do rely on the community feed back and the overall star rating before I make a decision on who gets my money. After my argument with myself on if this would be worth it or not, I finally just hit the button.

I must say, I don’t regret picking it up. Take a look at some screenshots below and then we will talk about it a bit.

  You have all the standard stuff available for your viewing pleasure right on the lock screen. With the exception of the rotary unlock located at the bottom. As you slide the arrow from left to right you instant access to messaging, calls and GMail. The app incorporates the number of missed or new messages you have right on the screen. Stopping over any of these three icons with then launch the appropriate application.

Inside the setting you get a lot of customize-able choices. Add owner info, play unlock sound, disable volume/camera keys and many more. You can set a custom background image of your choosing or reset to the default GOTO skin. If you are like many others out there, you might not use the stick sms application, call log, of GMail. If that is the case, you can set each of the three options to open your primary application.

On the top right you have a very clean and clear battery icon with percentage of life left. In the middle of screen you have the all important weather, time and date. Some people in the market commented that the weather didn’t work. There is no setting for location in the app, it pulls strictly from GPS/Network. So if none of your location settings on your device are enabled, you will not get accurate weather. You also have to set the update interval. No tapping on it to refresh. If the weather isn’t working for you then you can always disable the weather in the settings.

In the last hour of using this application I haven’t had any lag or complications. I haven’t faded to the old default lock screen or had any issues with it launching the correct application or unlocking. Even though it would appear as though the dev has stopped working on this application, I still feel it is very polished and a great alternative for anyone, especially the non rooted users out there.
