AT&T Galaxy S5 Active and Galaxy Alpha getting Android 5.0 Lollipop updates

Continuing on the trend of what I think I will call AT&T Lollipop week, we have two more devices getting the sweet treat. Just moments ago I alerted you guys the LG G2 seeing an update to Android 5.0, now I hear that the Galaxy S5 Active and, lower tiered, Galaxy Alpha are both seeing updates now as well. Unlike the smaller G2 update, which was 725MB’s, these updates are 1GB and 1.4Gb respectively. Guess which device gets the larger one?

The update brings in a lot of new UI enhancements for both devices along with a plethora of redesigned Samsung apps that are more inline with Google’s Material Design guidelines. The colors are bolder and sometimes brighter. You will also see the lockscreen notifications and Smart lock. It should be same update that the Galaxy S5 started to receive a week ago.

Like all other updates, they are rolling out in stages. You might be lucky and se it today, or you might not see it until the end of the month. At least you know it is out there legitimately though. Head to Settings > About device > Software Update > Check for Updates. If you see it is ready, then make sure you have well over 50% battery life, a solid Wi-Fi connection and some time to kill for it to download/install.
