Camera mod brings better quality photos and videos to your ICS toting HTC Sensation

Android is a rather interesting eco system to follow and work with. One of the biggest issues that devs face is often the 3G/4G, Hardware Acceleration and the camera. This issue is less present when working with a device that already has a support Android version. In the case of a new addition, like Ice Cream Sandwich, issues are abound. They do their best to built, create and solve issues that happen when porting a build to a currently not supported device. While we can deal with a multitude of various issues just to say we have it, sometimes things that don’t work keep us from flashing a build.

A newer mod by NODO-GT at XDA has some pretty awesome potential for those of you sporting an ICS build on your HTC Sensation. The reworked camera app allows for fully uncompressed images, increased size cap and the ability to shot 1080p videos at 20mbps versus the currently set 10mbps. Here is a list of the most recent changelog –

  • Fixed Camera Shutter sound
  • Added Experimental 1250 ISO mode (Thank to krogoth)
  • Possible Fix for Gallery App button (Not for Virtuous Inquisition)
  • Rebuild Camera App with 0 Compression For Better Performance
  • v1.2-Inquisition is for Virtuous Inquisition Only

There are two versions of this mod, one works best on certain ICS builds than the other. The dev outlines this in his thread. While all the fixes and additions may sound great, seeing is believing. Take a look at a comparison shot taken by NODO-GT.

The top image might have the dramatic effects and appeal with the light rays shining, the lower photo is definitely much richer. If you are interested in taking a tour of this mofd and flashing it to your ICS running Sensation, point your browser to NODO-GT’s XDA thread for ROM info and the appropriate file download. Good luck, and let us know how it works out for you.
