Galaxy S5 Lollipop updates rolling to owners in the UK

Samsung has steadily been pushing OTA updates around the globe for Android 5.0 for their flagship Galaxy S5. We know it went over well in Poland, Russia, Malaysia and Spain. Next on the mega OEM’s list is a roll out that is currently underway in the UK. While the update does bring the device more up to date than it was previously, it is still a few incremental updates behind being that Android 5.0.2 is already in the wild. SamMobile is reporting that builds for 5.0.2 are currently being tested internally though. I would imagine Samsung will finalize that build and follow a similar upgrade path that it is with the current Android 5.0 update starting off in Poland and so forth.

The update brings in a heck of a lot of good changes to both visuals with the implementation of Google Material Design elements that Samsung was keen to follow a little bit more in some of their own personal apps. While they aren’t perfect, it is a good start for Samsung to start blending their apps more with the guidelines. The update brings in all the goodies you have been eager to get your hands-on like heads-up notifications, MirrorLink support, Tap & go, ART runtime and an updated fingerprint scanner driver.

The update is rolling out in the more traditional OTA method directly from Samsung. if you see the notification be sure you have well over 50% battery life, a solid Wi-Fi connection and some time to spend waiting for it to download and install. If that isn’t your favorite method you can also hook your Galaxy S5 to your PC and utilize Samsung Kies to update your device. SamMobile has captured the OTA file as well, so if you are a bit more of an advanced user head over to them for the file and have at it.

Any users out there already picked up the Galaxy S5 Lollipop update in the UK? How is she running? Hopefully this means that the US isn’t too far behind.
