Google Navigation on Cyanogen ROM Gets Easy but won’t last

More testing and debugging over on XDA has come up with the folowing solution for Cyanogens latest ROMs.  I haven’t been able to very this myself as I’m running Enomther’s AOSP ROM so use at your own risk.

You need to uninstall Maps completely. Remove all of its files.
(I used SU File Browser and searched “maps” and removed any occurrence of maps.apk. but NOT from frameworks. or the .jar file)

Once you are sure you have them all gone you only need to make the following mods to your build prop.

ro.build.fingerprint==verizon/voles/sholes/trout:1.6/DRC83/14721:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys

leave the rest as is. I have tested this on my G1 with the rom in my sig and know that it works. And it should keep your navi intact and still play nice with the rest of your apps.

if someone knows the best way to remove the files via adb let me know and I’ll update.

Head over to this XDA thread to follow the activity.Â
