HOWTO: Use the Transparent widget theme for Go Launcher EX

This may seem like a silly post to some of you out there. If you have had any experience with themes and applying them to your device, no matter the launcher, then you have encountered comments like these –

“This is stupid, the app doesn’t even work!”

“How do I apply this theme?”

“Why doesn’t this show up in my app drawer, it says it is installed?”

We see ’em, and we some times snicker a little bit or even post a comment about reading the app description before you complain about it not working. Doesn’t mean people ever do. So we figured we would start tossing up a few simple little HOW TO guides to do some pretty basic stuff. I am fairly certain I have only seen one theme in the market for the Go Launcher EX widgets. It is a transparent theme and definately makes them look a lot better, IMO.

There isn’t anything overly complicated about applying this theme. Although it is applied a little different then some us might be used to. You find it anywhere in the settings of GO Launcher. To apply the theme you will want to long press the top bar of the widget on your screen. A box will pop up with various options – Resize, Delete, Skin and on some, Configure. Release the screen and then select ‘Skin’. Select ‘Transparency’ and then hit ‘Apply This Theme’. Pretty simple right? You will need to use the same process on every GO Launcher Widget that you have on your various screens. If the worded instructions just sit well with you, I put together a short, silent, video using ScreenCast to visually show you how simple it really is.

As great as the widgets are and as wonderful as the theme is, I am surprised there aren’t more of them. A themer could go crazy with widget themes for us. Hopefully someone out there reading this will see about improving the available options.

Don’t forget though, you will need to install the theme first to use it! You can find the usual information below to help you along the way.
