Lara Croft GO won Mobile Game of the Year award at The Game Awards 2015

It’s awards season in the video game world and kicking it off is The Game Awards 2015 that was held in Los Angeles on December 3rd. While the obvious main attraction was the overall Game of the Year award – which ended up going to the utterly awesome The Witcher 3 by CD Projekt RED – we were most interested about the mobile categories, namely the Mobile Game of the Year. Technically, the award was shared between mobile and handheld (which is kind of a bummer to begin with), but given the list of nominees, it’s not terribly surprising that Lara Croft GO won Mobile Game of the Year award ahead of its competition.

The other nominees in the category included Fallout Shelter, Downwell, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Pac-Man 256. While all the games listed are great in their own right (the ones for mobile, at least), it’s obvious the award doesn’t really cater for the full breadth of mobile games available to Android and iOS, nor are they really taking mobile seriously as a gaming platform – in fact, if they really wanted to do it properly, they should have done all the same awards but for mobile. But hey, at the very least, if you’re looking for what’s probably the best game on mobile anyway, you can pick up Lara Croft GO at the Play Store for $4.99 USD.
