The Moto G Becomes Official

moto-g-renders

The Moto G becomes official today, and its added to the Googorola family. We already knew a lot about the phone due to the early leak yesterday, but it is always nice to get the official specs of a new device. Here is what we know:

  • 4.5-inch 720p LCD TFT display
  • quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 5MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera
  • 2,070mAh battery
  • Android 4.3

That leaked information yesterday claimed that the Moto G would ship with Android 4.4 KitKat, but I guess someone got a little too excited for the budget friendly phone. The Moto G will be available to purchase in January, and pricing goes $179 for the 8 GB version, and $199 for the 16 GB version. Both of those prices are off contract prices, so you get Moto X kind of phone that should see an Android 4.4 update very soon for a super low price. It might not be for us Android enthusiasts, but perfect for anyone who wants to try Android and does not want to spend a bunch of money.

You will not be able to utilize the Moto Maker for the Moto G, but Motorola still gives you color options with what they call Moto Shells. These Moto Shells come in the colors, blue, teal, red, yellow, purple, white, and black. Apparently some flip covers can be purchased for the phone, so hopefully that will drive some of the public to purchase this new Moto. Let us know if you plan on getting one, or if you plan on getting some one you know to get one.
