Qualcomm confirms LG will use latest Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core chip in upcoming device, LTE ready Too

Looks like LG is really starting to move up in the world. Qualcomm has just confirmed that LG will be using their latest Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core APQ8064 in an upcoming device said to be launching in Korea in September with a global roll out to soon follow. That isn’t really the exciting part since there are already other quad-core devices floating around overseas, what is exciting is that the chip will be paired with a MDM9615 baseband for LTE.

Qualcomm will supply the latest Snapdragonâ„¢ S4 Pro platform to LG, enabling LG’s new quad-core smartphone, which is currently in production with anticipated commercial availability in Korea in September and global rollout to follow. This smartphone will be the newest commercial and global device to offer a quad-core CPU Snapdragon S4 processor along with 3G/LTE multi-mode capabilities, delivering a superior mobile experience for voice, web browsing, games, user interfaces and other graphics applications.

Unless I am wrong, this would mean that a quad-core device capable of utilizing LTE here in the states on the likes of AT&T and Verizon is on the not so distant horizon. Will LG beat the competition to quad-core glory in the sates? And what ever happened to that quad-core toting HTC device we heard about and saw back in June?
